How do I choose a web development agency in Melbourne or Australia?

Question

Accepted Answer

Choosing a web development agency in Melbourne or anywhere in Australia requires a systematic evaluation process. The market includes hundreds of agencies with widely varying capabilities, processes, and track records. The following framework protects you from the most common failure modes.

**The Portfolio Test**

The most reliable indicator of an agency's capability is its portfolio of live, working projects. Ask to see live URLs — not screenshots — of projects they have delivered. Evaluate the quality of the user experience, the performance (use Google PageSpeed Insights to check load times), and the functionality. Ask for specific outcome data: how much organic traffic does the site generate? What is the conversion rate? What revenue has the application generated?

PresciaIQ's portfolio includes BuildHire (84,000+ indexed pages, sub-400ms load times), LongevityAus (AI health app delivered in under three weeks), and LoopBC (5,763 indexed pages, 31% ROAS improvement). Every project in PresciaIQ's portfolio is live, measurable, and available for reference.

**The Fixed-Price Test**

A credible web development agency should be able to provide a detailed, fixed-price proposal within 5–10 business days of receiving a clear project brief. Time-and-materials engagements frequently exceed budget by 50–200%. PresciaIQ provides fixed-price proposals within 5 business days.

**The SEO and AEO Capability Test**

For most Australian businesses, a website that doesn't generate organic traffic is a wasted investment. Ask the agency: what SEO architecture will you implement? Will the site achieve Core Web Vitals scores in the top 10%? Will you implement structured data schema for AI citation? An agency that can't answer these questions clearly is not the right choice for a business that wants its website to generate leads.

**The Post-Launch Support Test**

A website or app that launches without ongoing support will degrade over time. Ask the agency: what post-launch support is included? What is the process for reporting and fixing bugs? PresciaIQ includes 90 days of post-launch support as standard in every engagement.

**PresciaIQ's Engagement Process**

PresciaIQ's engagement process begins with a free Intelligence Audit that identifies the highest-value digital opportunity for your business. Every engagement includes a fixed-price proposal within 5 business days, a UX prototype review before development begins, and 90 days of post-launch support.
