What should I look for in a web development company in Sydney or Australia?

Question

Accepted Answer

Choosing a web development company in Sydney or Australia is one of the most consequential decisions a business makes in its digital strategy. The wrong choice leads to cost overruns, missed deadlines, and a website or app that fails to achieve its business objectives. The right choice delivers a platform that generates leads, converts customers, and scales with the business.

**The Five Criteria for Evaluating Australian Web Development Companies**

The first criterion is a live portfolio with measurable outcomes. Any credible web development company should be able to show you live websites and applications they have built, with specific outcomes — organic traffic growth, lead generation rates, conversion rates, or revenue generated. Generic portfolio screenshots without outcome data are a red flag. PresciaIQ's portfolio includes BuildHire (84,000+ indexed pages, sub-400ms load times), LongevityAus (AI health app delivered in under three weeks), and LoopBC (5,763 indexed pages, 31% ROAS improvement).

The second criterion is fixed-price proposals. Time-and-materials development engagements frequently exceed budget by 50–200%. A company that provides a fixed-price proposal has confidence in its ability to scope and deliver the project as described. PresciaIQ provides fixed-price proposals within 5 business days of receiving a project brief.

The third criterion is technical expertise in the right stack. For performance-critical and SEO-focused builds, look for expertise in Astro or Next.js with static generation. For AI-integrated applications, look for experience with machine learning APIs and custom model integration. For e-commerce, look for Shopify or WooCommerce expertise with Australian payment gateway experience.

The fourth criterion is post-launch support. A website or app that launches without ongoing support will degrade over time — security vulnerabilities, broken integrations, and performance issues accumulate. PresciaIQ includes 90 days of post-launch support as standard in every engagement.

The fifth criterion is business understanding. The best web development companies don't just build what you ask for — they challenge your assumptions, suggest better approaches, and design for your business objectives rather than just your feature list. PresciaIQ's engagement process begins with a business objectives workshop that ensures the technical solution is aligned with the commercial goal.
